The inspiration for this project was a photograph of a room designed Dorothy Draper. When I saw the photograph, it was so crisp and clear that I thought that the room itself was all black, white and shades of gray. By the time I realized that I was looking at a black and white photograph of colored room, an idea was born. I wanted the guests of this suite to feel like they were walking into a black and white photograph— with only the art on the walls providing splashes of color. This is one of the few times in my career that I’ve had an opportunity to play with truly conceptual design (and it was a blast!).
